BSP/ESP6 – Offshore Structural Lead
Job Description
Purpose of Job:
* Lead the Offshore Structural Team and provide Technical Authority Level 2 (TA2) / specialist engineering to deliver asset support, structural integrity management and minor modifications within the Asset Directive.
Others:
* SIMS budget holder and Contract(s) Owner / Holder.
* Oversees BSP engineering and designer staff including Contractor staff (where applicable).
* Supervision of external consultant structural engineers and designers.
* Coaching role to team and new professionals and oversee their training and development.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Lead the Offshore Structural Team and TA2 for delivery of asset support, Structural Integrity Management System (SIMS) and minor modifications within the Asset Directive.
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead the Offshore Structures Asset and SIMS team, and accountable TA2 for ensuring the fundamental integrity management of BSP Offshore Structures infrastructure is applied, maintained, and continuously improved in line with the BSP SIMS Manual. SIMS includes, but not
limited to, standard proactive inspection regime, workflows, long term budgets and plans, integrity assessments, risk management, review / auditing program, reporting, and other key integrity elements.
* Oversee discipline related MTO’s, deviations and eMoCs.
* Support compliance to ongoing regulatory commitments (e.g. SHENA) from an offshore structure’s perspective, including safety cases, life extensions, independent / 3rd party review, annual reporting, and regulatory engagement / audit support.
* Ensure the asset is continually supported for turnarounds, deck loading checks, inspection finding reviews, risk ranking, prioritization, etc. Particular focus areas include boat landing / helideck / caisson / conductor integrity management, conductor / platform movement monitoring, airgap, fabric maintenance, and others.
* Lead cost effective life cycle initiatives to improve the structural technical integrity and availability of offshore installations.
* Lead the offshore structures engineering and design team supporting asset minor modifications.
* Ensure TA2 and discipline support provided to Pipelines, Civils, SMR, SAV, Metocean, Subsea, and other dependent disciplines / departments.
* Ad-hoc specialist support to Technical Directive projects.
* Lead the identification and implement innovative solutions to improve the status of structures and minimize maintenance costs, collaborating with other SOU asset and P&T teams, contractors, and external authorities, etc., and sharing best practices.
* Contract Owner / Holder for specialist contracts e.g. analyses, engineering repairs, anode systems, etc
* Lead and drive behaviours within team and peers: Embedded standard work, ownership, communication, engage frequently, motivate; particularly focusing on coaching graduate, junior and peers within offshore structures team and organisation, focusing on developing their competence profile, succession plans, TA3 / TA2 assessments, Graduate Development Programme (SGP, SATP), and Leadership skills.
Qualifications Required:
* BSc but preferably MSc in Civil/Structural engineering from recognized university.
Competence Required
Skills & Experience/Training:
* At least 12 years’ experience in offshore structures discipline within the oil and gas industry. Must have demonstrated supervisory skills.
* A combination of expert technical, analytical, problem solving and innovative skills:
– Experienced in Structural Integrity Management System (SIMS).
– Experienced in offshore structural design and analysis methods.
– Experienced in advanced analyses and integrity assessments.
– Experienced in specialist repairs (composites, grout, etc) and new technologies.
– Previous experience in other Operator Units (SOU, external), while responsible for structural integrity management and asset support is an advantage.
– Good communication skills and aptitude for taking initiatives are essential, as is the ability to lead and work in single and multi-disciplinary teams.
Special Abilities:
* Full understanding of HSE management principles and its application in BSP.
* Working knowledge of all relevant BSP HSE regulations including procedures and instructions.
