Job Description
Job Objectives:
Perform duties on a 12 hour, 4 shift basis under the guidance and direction of the Leading Fire Fighter with regards to the execution of functions related to routine, non-routine, administrative and emergency response duties. Ensure operational readiness of all firefighting equipment at the fire station and throughout the plant, establishing a safe working environment. Participate in drills and exercises as required under the direct supervision of the Leading Fire Fighter.
Job Description:
- Understand the correct functions, applications, operations and limitations of all fire and rescue equipment, with the ability to use and operate said equipment, to perform fault-finding if required and to respond and act in a professional manner addressing emergencies.
- Responsible for task-level performance as part of the Emergency Response Team at all emergencies.
- Receive and participate in on-the-job training.
- Practice, participate and assist with tactical exercises.
- Ensure that all records of fire equipment inspections and services is kept up to date and accurate.
- Participate in scheduled operational activities e.g. inventory checks, equipment tests etc. using checklists and technical instructions – report deficiencies and activities to supervisor.
- Maintain all emergency equipment in a state of readiness, including but not limited to, cleanliness, minor operational field maintenance, tests and inspections to approved standards and procedures as required, e.g. fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, hose-reels, rescue equipment, vehicles, breathing apparatus, PPE, etc. and report defects to supervisor.
- Respond immediately and safely to all emergency calls, e.g. fire and gas alarm activations, fires, explosions, hazardous materials incidents, road traffic accidents, industrial accidents, rescues, etc. with the objective to save life and conserve property.
- Contribute effectively and efficiently as a member of a disciplined and professional team, dealing with emergencies, i.e. fires, rescues, explosions, accidents, operational standby, etc.
- Prevent further injuries, preserve life and promote recovery by administering Emergency Medical Care (Basic) to injured persons in accordance with Qatar Legislation and Qatalum Policies, Standards and Procedures.

Minimum Qualification Required
- Completed Secondary School Education (Grade 12)
- Fire Fighter II (IFSAC) or equivalent
- Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic – an Advantage
- Hazardous Materials Operations (NFPA 472)
- Heights Rescue
- Confined Space Rescue
- Motor Vehicle Rescue
- Light Vehicle driver’s license (Qatar/GCC preferred)
- Heavy Vehicle Driver’s License (GCC preferred)
Required experience
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in an Emergency Service Environment.
Job Specific Skills
- Good work ethic and the ability to keep to schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multicultural, multinational environment.
- Technical skills – must be able to use a broad range of modern equipment for firefighting and rescue purposes.
- The ability to rapidly absorb information on arrival at an incident in conditions which may be dangerous and confusing and accordingly execute duties as instructed by the Incident Commander.
- Empathy for victims of fire and accidents and able to cope with distressing circumstances.
- Computer Literate (Microsoft Office)
- Fluency in English (Verbal and Written)
